"Diabetes –
The Silent Killer" . . . Over 300 Million
cases globally! Over 17
million Americans have diabetes with another million being diagnosed every
year! If you find those numbers
alarming, you’re in good company. The CDC
(Center for Disease Control) attributes the growing numbers to obesity and lack
of physical activity especially among people in their 30s. But, what is even scarier is that experts say
that is probably not an accurate estimate and in fact the numbers could be much
higher. It’s a very
insidious disease. Some people can have
the disease for years, sometimes decades, before the condition becomes
obvious. You may even call it the
“stealth” disease. In fact, the
numbers listed above could very well be a miscalculation. Why is that?
It is very common for diabetes to flourish undetected for as much as 12
years before diagnosis. The onset of
symptoms can be very gradual. Sadly,
some people are not diagnosed in time and suffer from the effects such as: ·
Heart disease ·
Amputations ·
Kidney disease ·
Loss of sight and blindness According to
research, over 290,000 of those people are the result of consequences of
diabetes statistically each year in the USA! Based on this
information, doesn’t it stand to reason that we should be waging an all out war
against this killer? You are absolutely
correct AND the first battle of that war begins with YOU!
